Our Art, Outdoors

Welcome to this inaugural showcase of art, poetry and film produced by the young people in our community. This site is brought to you by the Golden Plains Shire Council and the Victorian Government: Building Safer Communities Program funding and Bannockburn P12 College.

This next generation of young artists show their creativity, passion and ingenuity in response to living and learning in the Golden Plains Shire. These young artists take inspiration from the outdoors, of nature and what it means to be a young person in our community today.

The spectacular natural environment of this region is celebrated in Amelia L’s  depictions of exquisite native blossoms painted onto wood rounds in Native Flora. Gray’s intricately designed linocut, Leigh River delivers a dynamic composition featuring the swollen twisted branches of five hundred year old eucalypts. Flowers by Makayla Katny takes us into the delights of the garden creatively designed and screen-printed onto fabric. We see Harry’s extraordinarily imaginative short film Smokin’ Bronco, a playful response to how he interacts with his local bush surroundings. In Tarni C’s But Now, her insights into change and personal growth are expressed beautifully in poetry. Rowan creates an imaginative response to an intense emotional moment portrayed as an eye in a raging storm in their remarkable painting, Intensity Shows. Amanda H’s Azure combines 3D printed organic forms assembled within a terrarium reflecting on the natural forms within the landscape. Maddy’s unique sculpture Decisions, portrays an inventive use of symbolism to explore how our unique experiences give us the power and knowledge to choose our own destiny.
